Getting packed up for our trip to Mobile and Tahoe

I had a busy day getting ready for my big Junior League council meeting tonight. I think it went well. We had a good turnout and everyone on my council seems excited about the upcoming year. I was relieved when it was over. It was a lot to prepare for.

After that was over, I headed home to start packing for our big 10 day adventure! We are leaving tomorrow at 2:30pm and I still have to pack the kids in the morning. We are renting a car to Mobile b/c we are flying straight from there to Tahoe so I have to make sure everything will fit in the Impala. It will be a LONG drive but it will be fun getting together with everyone. Can't wait to see what the week brings . . .

Back to the Blueberry Farm and Mae's 2 year check-up

Today we went BACK to the blueberry farm. Luckily we recruited a group to go with us - the Wilhites, the Reagans and the Coxes! We got there at 10:30am so it was a little cooler than last weekend but not much. The kids lasted about 20 - 25 minutes picking the berries and then we headed back to the house for blueberry popsicles! I think the kids had more fun eating the popsicles than picking the berries. I got a big gallon bag of berries to take with us to Mobile. Maybe I'll even attempt to make some blueberry muffins with them! After the popsicles, they let them feed the roosters blueberries. They had a blast doing this too! They are probably some well fed roosters! After the blueberry farm we headed to Julie Anne's for lunch. It was a little wild but that is to be expected with 7 kids!

Our other adventure for the day (if that wasn't enough) was a trip to the pediatrician for Mae's 2 year check-up (a month later). Taylor came over to watch Sanders and took him to his swimming lessons.

Mae did great at the doctors office. She was 27lbs and 33" tall. She is 50% in weight and height and 90% in her head. Hopefully that means she will be smart. She cooperated well for the doctor - even through the shots. She whimpered a little when she got it but was smiling after I told her they gave her a band-aid. That was a lot less painful than I thought it would be. She is such a tough child! We were out of there in 1 1/2 hours but I guess that is pretty normal. Hopefully we won't be going back until her 4 year check-up!

How to survive a hot summer day . . .

For the first time in awhile, we went to sunday school and church this morning. It was great! Emily Gulett lead the class and did a really good job. We went to the Faithlink contemporary service and brought little Sanders with us. He enjoyed the fun music and behaved remarkably well. After church, we went to the new restaurant "Another Broken Egg" and it was delicious!! It was a little crowded and the food took awhile to come out but that is to be expected with a new restaurant. The biscuit beignets were fabulous!!! I'll definitely be going back there!

Waiting for our table

Eating at the Broken Egg. They both smiled!

When we got home 2 hours later - the kids both went down for naps and Sanders and I did some things around the house. When they woke up - we figured the only way to entertain them in the heat was to put on their their bathing suits, pull out the popsicles and turn on the sprinklers. They had fun and Mae LOVED the popsicle! Little Sanders still won't even try one!

Sanders made a delicious pasta for dinner - it was his own recipe. I was very impressed. After dinner we loaded up in the car and went and got yogurt for dessert. You can't beat a peanut butter/chocolate shiver with peanut butter cups! Mae wanted "pink" icecream so I got her the strawberry cheesecake. She loved it but it was a little messy in the car. Sanders of course didn't get the icecream - he got a "pink" sprinkle cookie. His favorite. It was a fun Sunday with the fam!

Mae's Dance Recital, Sanders' Last day of FB camp and a Sleepover with Hannah

Mae had her last day of dance camp today and they put on a little show for all the parents to show us everything they had learned. Well . . . Mae pretty much froze up when she got in front of everyone. She didn't show us one move. All she did was put her hands in her mouth and stare out at the crowd. Oh well . . . she sure did look cute in her leotard and tutu! Hopefully by the time she starts real dance class when she is 3, she'll have gotten over her stage fright. I just hope she doesn't start the bad habit of sucking her fingers.

Here are a few pictures from her performance! Mae is on the far left.

Pictures with mommy and daddy!

Here is a picture of Sanders and Grant on their last day of First Baptist Camp. They had so much fun. They made these adorable umbrellas and alligator visors. It was a Louisiana theme and they did lots of fun activities throughout the week.

Sanders also had his first sleepover tonight. We were going over to the Kendricks for our post-Boat Trip party so Hannah came over to our house and spent the night. Taylor said they did great. They watched a movie and went right to bed afterwards. Here are some cute pictures Taylor took of them.

Of course Mae had to join in the fun too!

Firehouse Subs with the girls

After I picked Mae up from dance camp today we headed to Firehouse Subs w/Holly and Tess and Mary Francis and Meredith. Mae LOVES Tess! She was even sharing her cheetos with her! It was a fun little girl get together!

Here is a picture of the girls in their fireman hats! The leotard and hats are a great combo!

After a battle with both kids, they finally fell asleep and took great naps! They needed it. When they woke up we put our bathing suits on and headed up to the pool with the Reagans and Nichols. It was great - it wasn't too crowded and the kids had a great time. Sanders and Mae both are getting so much better in the water. Sanders especially has made so much progress in just a few weeks. It was a fun night!

Another HOT summer day!

We woke up this morning to find a little friend in our backyard. Copper actually found him but thankfully he didn't do more than just sniff him. The kids were excited!

I bought Mae a tutu yesterday at Target so now her dance outfit is pretty much complete - minus the shoes but I couldn't find them in her size so I figure the Keds will work just fine.

We took Sally to dance camp this morning. Mae was excited to have a friend ride in the car with her. I think this is the first time we've carpooled with one of her friends. However, Mae was not a happy camper when I dropped her off this morning. She grabbed onto my leg and cried but one of the teachers took her and I think she calmed down after I left.

Here is a cute picture I took of Mae and Sally when I dropped them off at dance this morning. They were both so cute in their pigtails.

We had a pretty typical afternoon. Mae napped and Sanders came home from camp and "rested" while he watched a movie upstairs. We went to his group swimming lessons this afternoon and then came home so I could get ready for my Pokeno tonight at Sarah Hilliard's house. It was alot of fun. She served yummy hamburger sliders! It was nice to have a little girls' night. A few beers sure can perk you up! Sanders took the kids up to Cush's and said they did great. He survived a night alone!

Roly Poly, Finger Painting and Chik Fil A

Today was another busy day. When I picked Mae up from dance camp today, we went with Mary-Allen and Mary-Francis and their mommies to Roly Poly before we had to pick the boys up from First Baptist at 1pm. They were all so cute in their dance attire.

After Mae woke up from her nap, I pulled out the finger paints that I had bought at Michael's earlier in the day. I actually bought a few activities for us to do when things get stir crazy around the house. They both loved the finger painting. It was a little messy but nothing a wet wipe couldn't clean up.

Daddy played golf after work and we were getting a little stir crazy around the house so I took the kids up to Chik-fil-A for dinner. We saw Cameron and Malloy up there so that was fun for Sanders and Mae. We ate a quick dinner and the kids played for a little bit and then headed home for baths and bedtime! It was a fun night.
